When the cub was out of earshot, Scar requested the hyenas to destroy him, and so they immediately took chase. With the hyenas in incredibly hot pursuit, Simba ran out with the gorge and fell into a thorn patch. Unwilling to go after him into the thorns, the hyenas still left him for useless and reported to Scar that they had completed The task.[1]
